JOINTS, UNIVERSAL, PLAIN, LIGHT AND HEAVY DUTY,
GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of
Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for joints, universal, plain, light and heavy
duty, for use in intermittent operations (see 6.1).
1.2. Part or Identifying Number (PIN). The PIN consists of the letters MS (see 3.6), the basic
specification number, a dash, a letter for type, a number for size, a letter for lubrication cover, and a letter
for the plating.
